The Defacto Series” comes to Williamsburg’s most progressive art space Secret Project Robot for a 6-concert run this summer and fall for a uniquely genre-defying music program combined with a bent for multi-media art. The Defacto Series seeks to incorporate Brooklyn’s many creative communities into its concerts, including video art, interactive electronic music, as well as contemporary jazz and chamber music ensembles.

The series began as a vehicle for saxophonist/composer Dan Blake and sound artist/composer Yoni Niv, curators who quickly realized a growing need for concerts that reflect the growing diversity in Brooklyn’s music scene. Since February 2007, they have developed a growing community of New York’s finest creative musicians that includes Lukas Ligeti, Hans Tammen, Andrea Parkins, Matthew Welch, Satoshi Takeishi, and many other notable Brooklyn-based artists.

On June 10, curators Dan Blake and Yoni Niv welcome David Grubbs (Gastro del Sol), guitarist, vocalist and composer who gears up for his forthcoming album with a solo set. Nate Wooley, a trumpet player with a virtuousic sonic palette, will round out the evening with his latest duo project. Video artist and composer Zach Seldess will be presenting an installation throughout the evening. The curators, Dan Blake and Yoni Niv, will also perform a piece for saxophone and interactive electronics, part of their longstanding electro-acoustic collaboration. Secret Project Robot is located at 210 Kent Ave., corner of Metropolitan Ave. with the entrance on River St. (L train to Bedford) www.secretprojectrobot.org for more info.
